MAKING A DIFFERENCE
The Andean Explorer travels to areas of astounding natural beauty and visits inspiring local communities across South America.
From the indigenous families of the Uros Islands to the native communities in the Amazon it is essential that we help to protect our hosts and ensure that we make a positive impact by travelling responsibly. We are able to do this by ensuring that we buy local (at a fair price), use locally run operators, and visit locally run social projects, such as The Villa Maria Childrens’ Project in Lima, where a portion of your funds goes to help support them year round as we have now done for nearly 10 years. Visiting this project will show you how thousands of pounds and man hours donated by our teams has really made a difference to the children from the Villa Maria shanty town. Without the friendships and relationships that we have formed with Alejandro, his team and the local families, this is a project that would be impossible to experience.
On top of providing this unique experience we also work hard to minimise our environmental footprint by adopting a zero-litter policy, managing waste and water use and recommending environmentally friendly products to all our Expedition team members.
Through briefing and training all staff and team members we ensure that all teams are able to act responsibly before, during and after an Explorer. Join us and see how travel can enrich not only you but the world around you too.
WHY THE ANDEAN EXPLORER?
When we first set about creating the Andean Explorer, we realised it would take six months rather than six weeks to cram in everything we ideally wanted to. As a result, we have put together a taster of the wonders of the Peru Bolivia and Chile – ancient, modern, and natural, to give you an appreciation of what this part of the world has to offer.
Our route is also based on strong relationships with local contacts, who give an edge to the expedition no guide book could ever compete with. This is also very much in line with our ethos of support for the local communities.
