Bolivia Animal Sanctuary Project cost breakdown

TOTAL Cost £1588 for 6 weeks

£800- Project Contribution

Short term costs:

• Food for all the animals and volunteers
• Accommodation
• All on the ground transport
• Materials for all project activities, such as the tools, cement, chain link wire, aluminium poles, and bricks - needed to build a puma enclosure or vet clinic
• Medication and equipment for the veterinary clinic
• Local skilled staff wages for all project work

Medium term support:

• Maintenance and upkeep of project over the next year i.e. funds to pay for local staff to maintain trails made for jaguars and pumas, and repair enclosures
• Upkeep of animals throughout the year - food, medication, etc

Long term commitment:

• Land purchase - to increase the size of the sanctuary and ensure the long term security of the animals.

£350 - Quest project costs:

• Quest Project Leader wages, international flights & insurance
• Recces by Operations Managers to assess validity of project aims, maintain quality of project site and continually check conditions for volunteers
• Year round planning and development of project - including assessing aims and objectives for the project in the short, medium and long term
• Back-up medical support, communications, safety equipment & emergency contingency planning
• Project report write up

£100 - Overseas, non-project related costs:

• Accommodation - hotel in Santa Cruz on arrival in Bolivia and when travelling between the two parks
• All food in Santa Cruz
• All free time / weekend activities
• Transport - buses and taxis

£338- Quest UK Costs

To you:

• Pre-departure preparation days
• Access to our pre-departure information
• Project leader training
• Safety equipment and first aid kit, emergency contingency planning, continual risk assessments
• Quest UK staff costs - pre-departure support and 24 hour back-up from the UK
• Quest expedition doctor - 24-hour medical advice and support when you are overseas.
• Negotiating with flight companies and insurers to provide the best deal for you
• Your Quest T-shirt

To Quest:

• Selection costs associated with volunteers (open evening, support when signing up)
• Selection costs associated with project leaders
• Marketing and administration costs
• Office rental and related costs
• Repatriation assistance and emergency back-up funds to cover costs incurred in any unforeseen circumstances, which would not be covered by personal travel insurance. N.B. where this is not utilised, the funds are fed back into the company to develop future expeditions.
