Experience day-to-day life in a rural African community surrounded by the smiling faces of one of Africa's friendliest countries. Follow this with a journey through wild Africa searching for the big five, scuba diving with whale sharks, floating along the silent waterways of the Okavango Delta and micro-lighting above 'the smoke that thunders'.
Malawi is an incredibly poor country. It is estimated that up to seven million people, from a population of 12 million, may be on the edge of famine. An estimated 400,000 children have been orphaned and each village community often supports over 100 of these orphaned and vulnerable children.
Your help is needed to provide food and shelter to these orphans, by giving financial support to buy maize and physical help to build community centres which then act as a health clinic, canteen for the orphans and a classroom for all the village's children. The beauty of this project is that it exposes you directly to the warmth and unforgettable welcome of the Malawian people.
The 6 week Project is followed by our 6 week Southern Africa Explorer Expedition - you will be trekking in the mountains of Swaziland, learning to scuba dive alongside Whale Sharks and Manta Rays in the blue waters off Mozambique's coast, canyoning, abseiling and visiting the spectacular Blyde River Canyon in South Africa, canoeing into the depths of the Okavango Delta and heading off on safari for the Big Five in Botswana's world famous game parks. The ultimate finale is taking a microlight or helicopter flight over the immense Victoria Falls in Zambia.
