Immerse yourself in the South American culture of Ecuador, learn a language and then put this into practice working with children from the Villa Maria Shanty Town in Lima, Peru. Following the Project you'll take a journey from the Andes to Amazon. You'll travel from breezy snow-capped mountains to lush Amazon Rainforest, through some of the world's most stunning scenery. The expedition culminates with the Inca Trail to the lost city of Machu Picchu deep in the Peruvian Andes.
Language Phase 3 weeks: One to one Spanish tuition and exploration in Quito - the capital of Ecuador situated high in the Andes. Explore the historic centre - a UNESCO World Heritage Site, visit vibrant indigenous market towns, beaches and surrounding cloud forests.
Project Phase 4 weeks: Based in one of Latin America's largest shanty-towns, you will be helping to provide a programme of games and activities for disadvantaged kids during their school summer holidays. You could be helping them learn or improve their football and swimming skills, working on arts and crafts projects, preparing for fetes or practicing for a small community theatre production. Bring some happiness to the lives of children living in desperate poverty by giving your time and friendship and above all by showing that someone cares.
Explorer Phase 6 weeks: A journey taking you from the Andes to the Amazon. From icy peaks to pristine white beaches, South America offers landscapes, people and wildlife like no other. The expedition will combine vibrant, bustling cities and remote, indigenous communities.
